Great. I leave Seattle for a week in June and Paul Theroux visits. This happened to me the last time he came to Seattle. This year I'll be in Boston, but will return to Seattle before Paul visits that city.
Oh, well, at least I live in a city that he regularly visits. Hopefully I'll catch him when The Cold World is released.

| I live in Lousiana- I drove all the way to Austin, TX to meet him a few years back, that's the closest his tour schedule has ever taken him to the Deep South! We have an amazing dearth of intellectuals and the literature-minded down here and I don't see any signs of improvement! Oh well! As you can see this year the closest he comes to here is Chicago. You yankees must read a whole lot more in order to stay warm?!?!? J/J! |

Hmmm, never thought of those of us from Washington State as Yankees. However, Postmaster General James Farley said, in a toast back in the mid '30's: "To the 47 states of the Union and the Soviet of Washington!"
But, aside from the question of whether we are Yanks or Soviets, we certainly do a lot of reading in Seattle. It rarely gets very cold up here, but it is one of the cloudiest city in the U. S. Makes for great reading weather.
The last time I went to one of Paul Theroux' readings it was held at the largest lecture hall at the University of Washington. The room holds around 750 people. While the room was not entirely packed, it was fairly full. Paul always draws a large crowd in Seattle.
