I haven't seen anyone say anything about the new novella available through amazon.co.uk titled Two Stars. Its very short-- only 60 pages, but quite interesting... has anyone else out there read it yet?

I haven't read Two Stars yet, but I did notice that the book can be ordered from Amazon's Canada site for about $14 Canadian. That's a bit cheaper than their UK site for those of us in the U.S.

I'm thinking about picking it up the next time I'm in Canada. Can you give us some more details about Two Stars? Amazon doesn't have a very long description of the book.

Well the book is mostly about Elizabeth Taylor and her life-- apparently he (Paul Theroux) met her on various occasions. The book is supposed to be a comparison between her and Marilyn Monroe, both "starlets" in their own right. But of the 60 pages, I think 58 are on Liz Taylor. This is not to say that it wasn't an interesting read; there were lots of interesting facts about Liz in the book. But the lack of info on Marilyn Monroe was a bit of a disappointment especially since the book was billed as a comparison/contrast book. Did you read Nurse Wof and Dr. Sacks? I thought this would be a similar book with lots of info on both, but it definitely wasn't. That being said, the two to three pages that were on Monroe were extremely interesting. Alot of info packed into just a few lines. I re-read it about 3 times. I just thought he might have expanded on it a bit more.
All and all, a very interesting book...maybe 3 of 5 stars...
