Who is Erril Jinkins ("A Traveler's Tale")?

I've often wondered about the identity of the Australian journalist in Chapter Nine, "A Travelers Tale", who also appears in "The Great Railway Bazaar".

Mr. Theroux uses the name "Erril Jinkins", but could it in fact be Sorrel Wilby? The names are very similar, and the description and age seems to fit.

I don't suppose I'll ever know, or even if any part of the second meeting ever really happened.
